Spicy Beef Koftas

In: Meals

  Cooking temperature: 200°C

Makes/Serves: portions of 4-5 koftas

Ingredients

  • 1 Shallot
  • 500 g Beef Mince
  • 2 tablespoons Plain Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Allspice
  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Chopped Oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Egg

Method

  1. Peel the shallot, quarter it and pop it in your food processer. Give it a quick blitz so it's roughly chopped.
  2. Then add all the other ingredients and process until it's all mixed together.
  3. Shape into golf ball size portions (4-5 per serving is about right) and flatten them slightly into patties.
  4. I cooked mine in the air fryer for 13 mins, but you could also fry or grill them.
  5. Picture shows them with chips, a dollop of tzatziki, some salad and chilli jam. Served in a bowl to make a street food style meal.

For a greek inspired version

Swap the beef for lamb mince and use mint instead of oregano to make lamb koftas. Serve as above and add crumbled feta and olives if you wish.
